Assignment 1


Besvar både opgave a. og b. nedenfor. Brug relevant grammatisk terminologi. Skriv dine svar på dansk.
  1. Find og skriv tre sætninger med ligefrem ordstilling og tre sætninger med omvendt ordstilling fra teksten. Skriv for hvert eksempel hele sætningen, og marker tydeligt i hver sætning både hele subjektet og hele verballeddet.

  2. Forklar kort på baggrund af eksemplerne forskellen på ligefrem og omvendt ordstilling, samt den vigtigste regel for, hvornår man bruger omvendt ordstilling på engelsk.
Teksten er et uddrag af en komedie. Jack ønsker at gifte sig med Gwendolen; i uddraget bliver han udspurgt af Gwendolens mor, Lady Bracknell.

Ranchers set to fight back against vegetarian “fake meat” Companies like Impossible Foods and Beyond Meat are combining plant-based ingredients and science, rather than animals, to create fake-meat burgers and other products that taste like the real thing. 3 Now U.S. Cattlemen’s Association is looking to draw a line in the sand. The association launched what could be the first salvo in a long battle against plant-based foods. Earlier this month, the association filed a 15-page petition with the U.S. Department of Agriculture calling for an official definition for the 6 term “beef”, and more broadly, “meat”. “While at this time alternative protein sources are not a direct threat to the beef industry, we do see improper labeling of these products as misleading,” said Lia Biondo, the association’s policy and outreach director. “Our goal is to head 9 off the problem before it becomes a larger issue.” Not everyone sees it that way. Ethan Brown, founder and CEO of Beyond Meat, said consumers already know what they’re looking for when they’re browsing the grocery store aisles. But he doesn’t necessarily see the petition as a 12 bad thing. “I think it actually could help us more than it could hurt us because it starts the national dialogue around what really is meat, and if the origin of meat really matters to the consumer,” said Brown. 15 The cattle ranching group contends that if a product is going to be labeled “beef”, it should come from the flesh of cattle. Write an analytical essay (900-1200 words) in which you analyse and interpret T. Coraghessan Boyle’s short story “She’s the Bomb”.

Part of your essay must focus on the structure of the story. In addition your essay must include an analysis of the style of writing in lines 29-55.

In your essay you must include references to the short story.

All sources must be documented.

Assignment 4B – Non-fiction


Write an analytical essay (900-1200 words) in which you analyse Robinson Meyer’s article “The Righteous Anger of the Parkland Shooting’s Teen Survivors” and discuss high school students’ political activism in the media age.

Part of your essay must focus on how the writer conveys his own attitude to the issues explored. In addition your essay must include an analysis of the style of the language in the tweets in Meyer’s article.

In your essay you must include references to:

  • Video: “Parkland Shooting Survivors on the ‘March for Our Lives’”
